What does the In-House Softball Program entail?

The In-House Softball Program is a recreational program that allows all players, regardless of ability, a place to learn and play softball as part of a team.

Evaluations: Player evaluations will be held April 6th and 7th. Coach volunteers will be part of the evaluations and the team selection draft process.

Practices: Two practices per week starting the week of April 22, 2024. Practice length is 1.5 hours and held at Black Partridge Park Softball Field or Schupp Park.

Games: Teams will play approximately 12 games (2 per week) and finish the season with a tournament. Games will be played in June and July.

Leagues: (Grades completed as of May 2024)

  • Pixie (1st, 2nd, & 3rd Grade)
  • Junior (4th & 5th Grade)
  • Intermediate (6th, 7th, & 8th Grade)

If you are interested in coaching or assisting in the MYSA In-House Softball Program, please acknowledge so on the registration form. Head coaches are eligible to have their player’s registration fee waived. The MYSA Softball Director will contact coach volunteers before evaluations.

What does the Coach Pitch Baseball Program entail?

Coach Pitch Baseball is the next level of play for boys after tee ball. Players gain a greater understanding of the game and develop skills in a coach-pitch format.

Evaluations: Players will be evaluated for skill level in order to balance teams for competitive play. All boys will be placed on a team. Evaluations will be held April 6th and 7th.

Practices: Teams will have two practices per week starting around the week of April 22,2024. Practice length is 1.5 hours and most will be held at Lincoln-Douglas Park

Games: During the regular season, teams will typically have two games per week. Teams will play approximately 12 regular season games plus a single elimination playoff tournament at the end of the season. The tournament will be scheduled to complete before the 4 th of July.

Ages: Coach Pitch Baseball is for 1st and 2nd grade boys, as well as kindergartners who are ready to progress beyond tee ball. If you have questions about skill level required for Coach Pitch Baseball, please email coachpitchbaseballdirector@mysasports.org.

What does the In-House (3rd through 6th grade) Baseball Program entail?

The In-House Baseball Program is a recreational program that allows all players, regardless of ability, a place to learn and play baseball as part of a team.

If needed, player evaluations will be held April 6th and 7th.

Practices: Two practices per week starting the week of April 22, 2024. Practice length is 1.5 hours and held at Black Partridge Park.

Games: Teams will play approximately 12 games (2 per week) and finish the season with a tournament. Games will be played in June and July

What does the Travel Light (14U) Baseball Program entail?

The Travel Light Baseball Program is a recreational program that allows all players, regardless of ability, a place to learn and play baseball as part of a team.

Practices: Two practices per week starting in middle of April at locations TBD.

Games: Teams will play approximately 12-20 games (2-3 games per week). Games will begin in May and will require some light travel. Games will be scheduled with available opponents within a 1 hour driving distance. Games will be played May through July.

As registration winds down, the MYSA Bat and Ball Committee will be talking with candidates that are interested. Please don’t let any perceived lack of knowledge or experience hold you back from helping develop young athletes. If needed, assistance will be provided in determining practice drills and evaluating player skills. Head coaches will have their player’s registration fee waived.

What does the Tee-Ball Program entail?

Tee-ball is a recreational program that allows all players, regardless of ability, a place to learn and play as part of a team.

Practices: Two practices per week starting the week of April 22, 2024. Practice length is 45 minutes to an hour and held at Black Partridge Park.

Games: Teams will play 10 games. Games will be played in May and June.

Ages: All children with birthdays between July 1st, 2017 and May 1st, 2020.

MYSA Summer Travel Basketball Program

MYSA is now accepting registrations for the summer of 2024 Travel Basketball season.
Registration closes on 2/4/2024.

Registration is available for the following

7th/8th Grade Girls (2024-25 school year)
(MYSA is willing to consider other age levels if an individual wants to reach out to the board to discuss)

Tryout Details

Tryouts will be held February 11th at Metamora Grade School. Team(s) will be selected and announced within a week of evaluations. There is no cost to tryout, but if your child is selected to a team the player fee must be paid prior to the first practice.

What does the Travel Basketball Program entail?

The Travel Basketball Program is a competitive program that builds team and individual skills for taking the next steps into their school program.
Practices: Typically, two weekday evening practices and one weekend practice for the first month of the season starting April 15th. Once games start in May, teams drop-down to two weekday evening practices. Practice length is between 1-1/2 to 2 hours all season. Practices may be held in either Germantown Hills and/or Metamora.
Games: All teams will start playing games in May & continue through the end of June. The vast majority of the game schedule will be played in tournaments at locations such as Galesburg, Bloomington, ICC, and possibly Burlington, IA. Any additional home games/scrimmages will be played at Metamora Grade School or Germantown Hill Middle School. Any remaining non-tournament games are typically within 45-60 minutes.
7th/8th Grade Level (2024-25 school year) – 18-23 guaranteed games
(All teams could play more depending on tournament success)
